Decorul este lunar, minimalist, uluitor de frumos. Un munte de sare solidificată, alb imaculat, se remarcă pe un cer azuriu, iar în depărtare privirea se pierde în vasta întindere a mlaștinilor sărate Camargue de un roz deconcertant.

În sudul său natal, la Salin de Giraud, la patruzeci de minute de Arles, Simon Porte Jacquemus a ales să-și dezvăluie colecția de toamnă – designerul independent continuă să-și prezinte colecțiile în afara calendarelor oficiale – dintre care unele piese sunt deja în vânzare. 

PRezentarea spectaculoasă a presupus mutarea și modelarea a 180.000 de tone de sare pe parcursul unei luni pentru a crea dealuri albe orbitoare pe care modelele le-au coborât într-o procesiune lentă. „Am vrut ceva brut, simplu și poetic”, a spus designerul după spectacol. O intenție a exact opusului precedentului său spectacol de modă „Le Splash” din Hawaii. „Pe atunci mergeam într-o direcție pop, foarte colorată, care nu îmi plăcea, nu mă mai recunoșteam, analizează cu o sinceritate rară Simon Porte Jacquemus. Am vrut să încep de la zero.”

Pagină goală

Cu această colecție, intitulată „Le Papier”, designerul revine la surse. O alegere eminamente strategică într-un moment în care afacerea lui „explodează” în propriile sale cuvinte și când este important pentru el „să țină picioarele pe pământ”. El găsește așadar acest Sud în care a copilărit și unde încă mai locuiesc bunicii, prezenți în primul rând al acestui spectacol. De asemenea, reînvie spiritul celor mai izbitoare prezentări de modă – „Les Santons” sau „La Bomba” – și codurile care îl definesc pe Jacquemus. „Este ca o pagină goală, o reînnoire”.

Colecția acordă loc de mândrie unei senzualitate moale pe care designerul are arta de a o dezvălui cu decolteuri adânci, spate jos, spate gol, decupaje, cravate care atârnă de un fir... feminitatea exultă în liniște, corpul este glorificat, sublimat. Este o chestiune de confort si couture cu aceste veste sau parkas moi care învăluie ca un cocon liniștitor sau aceste rochii ca fiind a doua piele al căror bumbac este plisat, drapat, sculptat, brodat sau amestecat cu ipsos parcă pentru a da viață unui alt material. Culorile naturale - alb, nisip, ocru - se îmbină în decor, doar câteva din cele 70 de siluete, în negru, ies în evidență ca umbrele chinezești pe sarea albă.
